Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information QuoteStash ("we", "us") collects when you use the QuoteStash app, why we collect it, and how you can control it. QuoteStash is a shared space for friend groups, teams, or "rooms" to save and quiz each other on funny things people have said.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your first name, email address, and password (stored securely, hashed, by our authentication provider — we never see or store your password in plain text).

Profile picture

If you choose to add a profile picture, it's uploaded to our file storage and shown next to your name wherever it appears in the app (quotes, comments, reactions, leaderboards, and so on). Uploading a profile picture is entirely optional.

Room content

Rooms, quotes, comments, reactions, quiz results, favorites, and any group photo you upload for a room are all stored so they can be shared with the other members of that room. This content is visible to members of the room it belongs to — it isn't shared outside that room or made public.

Usage information

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand overall traffic to QuoteStash (for example, which pages are visited and how often). This is a cookieless, aggregated analytics tool — it does not use cookies, does not store persistent identifiers on your device, and cannot be used to track you individually across sites or sessions. 2. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account, and let you log in.
• To operate the core features of QuoteStash — rooms, quotes, comments, reactions, favorites, quizzes, and leaderboards.
• To show your name and, if you've added one, your profile picture, to other members of rooms you're in.
• To send you in-app notifications about activity relevant to you (for example, someone commenting on a quote you added).
• To understand overall usage of the app so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your data for advertising.

3. Who we share it with

We use the following third-party service providers to run QuoteStash:

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. Your account data, room content, and any uploaded images are stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
• Vercel — our hosting provider, which also provides the cookieless Web Analytics described above.

We don't share your personal information with anyone else, except where required by law, or with your explicit consent.

4. How long we keep your data

We keep your account and room data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (available from Settings → Manage), we delete your profile data. Content you've added to rooms you no longer own may be retained by that room if other members remain, since it forms part of the shared history of that room.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Export a copy of your data — available directly from Settings → Manage → "Export my data".
• Correct inaccurate data — you can update your name any time from Settings.
• Delete your account and associated personal data — available from Settings → Manage.
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls that ensure room content is only visible to members of that room. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.

7. Children's privacy

QuoteStash is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
